Bringing Home Your Mini Goldendoodle: The First Two Weeks

Bringing home a Mini Goldendoodle puppy is exciting — and the first two weeks set the tone for everything that follows. Here’s what we tell every Mini Island Doodles family before pickup day.

Day 1: Set the rhythm gently

Your puppy has just left their litter and the home they’ve known. The first day should be quiet. Show them their potty area, their crate, their water — and let them explore at their own pace.

The first night

Some puppies sleep through; some cry. Both are normal. We send home a blanket with our scent on it — keep it in the crate. Place the crate near your bed for the first week so they know they’re not alone.

Continuing potty training

Mini Island Doodles puppies come pre-trained on a designated potty area. The fastest path to outdoor reliability is to place the potty tray near the door for the first week, then gradually move it outside. Be patient with accidents — they’re learning a new environment.

Vet visit within 7 days

Take all your records. Most vets want to do a wellness check and confirm your puppy’s vaccination schedule.

Two weeks in

By two weeks, your puppy will know their name, their potty routine, and where you keep the treats. The bonding has begun.
